Axon is on a mission to protect life. For 30 years, we have listened, learned and led the way in public safety innovation.
Axon was founded in 1993 by Rick Smith after two of his friends were shot and killed in a road rage incident. Rick believed the way to solve problems permanently and deeply was through technological change. He vowed to dedicate his career to developing public safety technology that would make the world a safer and more just place for all.
Over the last three decades, Axon has remained true to our roots, working alongside public safety and community members to innovate technology to keep people safe. What started as a single piece of hardware in a garage in Arizona has grown into a global ecosystem of life-saving public safety products and partners.
We’ve come a long way in the 30 years since Axon was founded. Our innovations like TASER energy weapons, body-worn cameras and digital evidence management software have become mainstream in the United States. But we can’t — and won't — stop there. At our core, we believe that creating and leveraging new technology can help us take giant leaps into the future.
In the next 30 years, we will not slow down. Axon will accelerate our research and development to continue improving outcomes around the globe. Through a combination of technology, training, policy, public acceptance and oversight we will change the landscape of public safety forever, to ensure everyone gets home safe.
Cut gun-related deaths between the police and public by 50% in 10 years
